When is a do not also a do not? What is a do? Something that would be beneficial to do. A do not? Something where it would be harmful to not do. Hm.
Where is all this plastic coming from? Where does it all go? Where is it all being used? I think it is a by product of oil - but I'm not too sure on that account. And it doesn't biodegrade easily, either it doesn't biodegrade or it takes a very long time to do so. And it's all being used... to do what? Package things that could otherwise do without packaging. Like.. plastic bags. Bubble wrap. CD cases. It is everywhere and it is going nowhere fast. So much of it is being used per day and it's all going into landfills where nobody wants to or can reuse it. It just occured to me while I was popping bubble wrap for a memory stick. It came in one of those yellow packages with bubble wrap inside. And inside that was one of those hard plastic things to hold the USB Flash drive... Why all this plastic? Yes, it can be hard, durable and whatever... but it serves no further purpose than that which it was intended for. Sure, some of the niftier looking stuff can be used for baubles and whatnot - but that's simply not useful.
I find it rather annoying how I can't insult people, or at least come up with a good comeback. Maybe it's just today. An hour of monotonous marking of the same person's stuff along with a kid earlier (5 years old or so) whose whole attitude is not healthy for a socially acceptable environment. At least where I dwell in society. He tries to be menacing or moronic or whatever, and I can't just do it back at him. If I scare the kid or make him cry... then I'll be held responsible for it. His dad might decide to take him out of the program and then the instructor will get mad at me. And... he doesn't seem to be absorbing any of the work. The problem I find is that he actually doesn't know any of the words (Kumon Reading). All he can do is match the picture with a word he knows and keeps guessing. With these flash cards, there's a word on one side and its dipthong or some other pair of letters and on the back there's the same thing, but also a picture. If I show him the picture side, he can sometimes get it (oftentimes he also guesses other things that the picture might be referring to) but if I show him the other... he can not get it at all. It might simply be a problem with the Kumon approach or a problem with how the other instructors dealt with him. But whatever it is, it's not helping him learn.
This reminds me of a book I read back during the summer [there's an entry on the msnspace account with text from the book] - A is for Ox (: the Collapse of Literacy and the Rise of Violence in the Electronic Age) by Barry Sanders. As a side note, this book was printed in 1995. I forgot exactly what it was about, although I did find it interesting. I have a short memory span, so I don't quite remember the details which is annoying. No matter. It's still make for an interesting read.
Min kyckling kallnar i påvens hatt.
Another disjointed and disfigured piece of FLEM. My SPOO has too much FLEM? I can't think weekends.
